Generic Augmentin is used to treat a wide variety of infections, including:

• gonorrhea
• middle ear infections,
• skin infections,
• upper and lower respiratory tract infections, and
• infections of the genital and urinary tract.

ADULTS:
Ear, Nose, Throat, Skin, Genital, and Urinary Tract Infections:
The usual Generic Augmentin Dosage is 250 milligrams, taken every 8 hours.

Infections of the Lower Respiratory Tract:
The usual Generic Augmentin Dosage is 500 milligrams, taken every 8 hours.

Gonorrhea:
The usual Generic Augmentin Dosage is 3 grams in a single oral dose.

Gonococcal Infections Such as Acute, Uncomplicated Anogenital and Urethral Infections:
3 grams as a single oral Generic Augmentin Dosage.

Ulcers:
1 gram of Generic Augmentin combined with 500 milligrams of Biaxin and 30 milligrams of Prevacid taken every 12 hours for 14 days.

CHILDREN:
Children weighing 44 pounds and over should follow the recommended adult dose schedule.

Children weighing under 44 pounds will have their dosage determined by their weight.

Generic Augmentin Overdose
Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect a Generic Augmentin Overdose, seek medical attention immediately.
Symptoms of Generic Augmentin overdose may include:

• stomach pain
• vomiting
• diarrhea
• rash
• hyperactivity
• drowsiness

If you miss an Generic Augmentin dose:
Take Generic Augmentin as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose of Generic Augmentin, and you take 2 doses a day, take the one you missed and the next dose 5 to 6 hours later. If you take 3 or more doses a day, take the one you missed and the next dose 2 to 4 hours later. Then go back to your regular schedule.

Generic Augmentin Storage instructions:
Generic Augmentin capsules should be stored in a tightly closed bottle at or below 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Store tablets at or below 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

Generic Augmentin Preparations:
Tablets: Amoxicillin 500mg – Clavulanate 125mg
Amoxicillin 875mg – Clavulanate 125mg
Amoxicillin 250mg – Clavulanate 125mg

A reaction with another antigout drug, Zyloprim, may cause a rash. Notify your doctor if you are taking either of these drugs.

The removal of Generic Augmentin from the body can be slowed when given with probenecid.
Like many antibiotics, Generic Augmentin may reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills. You may want to take additional measures while taking Generic Augmentin.
Generic Augmentin may decrease the removal of methotrexate from the body increasing the risk of toxicity.
Generic Augmentin may alter the effect of anticoagulants such as warfarin.

Special Precautions if you are pregnant or breast feeding

• The effects of Generic Augmentin during pregnancy have not been adequately studied. However Generic Augmentin should be used with caution during pregnancy because there may be a risk to the developing baby and only if the expected benefit to the mother is greater than any possible risk to the foetus. Seek medical advice from your doctor.
• Generic Augmentin appears in breast milk and could affect a nursing infant. If Generic Augmentin is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to stop nursing your baby until your treatment with this drug is finished.

Treatment with Generic Augmentin alters the normal flora of the colon and may permit overgrowth of clostridia.
Generic Augmentin should be used with caution in patients with evidence of hepatic dysfunction. Hepatic toxicity associated with the use of Generic Augmentin is usually reversible. On rare occasions, deaths have been reported.
