Generic Floxin tablets have been used effectively to treat lower respiratory tract infections, including chronic bronchitis and pneumonia, sexually transmitted diseases (except syphilis), pelvic inflammatory disease, and infections of the urinary tract, prostate gland, and skin.

Generic Floxin is effective against several types of bacteria that tend to be resistant to other commonly used antibiotics. Generic Floxin is used to treat a wide range of infections, including infections of the chest, urinary tract. Generic Floxin is also used as a single dose treatment for gonorrhoea.

Do not take mineral supplements, vitamins with iron or minerals, Videx (didanosine) chewable tablets and pediatric powder, or antacids containing calcium, aluminum, or magnesium within 2 hours of taking Generic Floxin tablets.

Mild to Moderate Skin Infections
The usual dose of Generic Floxin is 400 milligrams every 12 hours for 10 days, for a total daily dose of 800 milligrams.

Chronic Bronchitis
The usual dose of Generic Floxin is 400 milligrams every 12 hours for 10 days, for a total daily dose of 800 milligrams.

Pneumonia
The usual dose of Generic Floxin is 400 milligrams every 12 hours for 10 days, for a total daily dose of 800 milligrams.

Gonorrhea
The usual dose of Generic Floxin is 400 milligrams taken once.
Sexually Transmitted Infections of the Cervix or Urethra
The usual dose of Generic Floxin is 300 milligrams every 12 hours for 7 days, for a total daily dose of 600 milligrams.

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
The usual dose of Generic Floxin is 400 milligrams every 12 hours for 10 to 14 days, for a total daily dose of 800 milligrams.

Bladder Infections
The usual dose of Generic Floxin is 200 milligrams every 12 hours for a total daily dose of 400 milligrams. This dose is taken for 3 days for infections due to E. coli or K. pneumoniae. For infections due to other microbes, it is taken for 7 days.

Complicated Urinary Tract Infections
The usual dose of Generic Floxin is 200 milligrams every 12 hours for 10 days, for a total daily dose of 400 milligrams.

Prostatitis
The usual dose of Generic Floxin is 300 milligrams every 12 hours for 6 weeks, for a total daily dose of 600 milligrams.

If you miss a Generic Floxin dose
If you miss a dose of Generic Floxin, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses of Generic Floxin. There should be an interval of at least 10 to 12 hours between doses.

Generic Floxin Overdose
Generic Floxin when taken in excess can produce serious consequences. If you suspect Generic Floxin overdose seek medical emergency immediately.

Symptoms of Generic Floxin overdose include

• disorientation
• dizziness
• drowsiness
• hot and cold flashes
• slurring of speech
• swelling and numbness in the face
• nausea

Generic Floxin Storage instructions
Keep Generic Floxin out of the reach of children in a container that small children cannot open.
Store Generic Floxin at a temperature below 30 degrees C (85 degrees F). Throw away any unused amount of Generic Floxin after the expiration date.

Generic Floxin Preparations:
Generic Floxin Tablets- 100 mg, 200 mg, 400 mg

Generic Floxin interacts with the following drugs:

• aluminum salts
• antacids
• calcium salts
• didanosine (Videx tablets or oral solution)
• iron (ferrous sulfate) preparations such as Feosol
• magnesium salts
• manganese
• medicines for diabetes
• multivitamins containing iron, calcium, zinc, or manganese
• NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, and naproxen.

When used with Generic Floxin the following medications increase the risk of convulsions.

Theophylline also increases the risk of convulsions when taken in combination with Generic Floxin.

• sucralfate - Sucralfate reduces the absorption of Generic Floxin. Therefore do not take sucralfate within two hours of taking Generic Floxin.
• Warfarin The blood thinning effects of warfarin are enhanced with Generic Floxin.
• Zinc salts Generic Floxin increases the risk of kidney damage when used with cyclosporin.

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way Generic Floxin works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.

Generic Floxin precautions if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
The effects of Generic Floxin during pregnancy have not been adequately studied. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. Generic Floxin should not be used during pregnancy unless your doctor has determined that the benefit to you outweighs the risk to the unborn baby.
Generic Floxin appears in breast milk and could affect a nursing infant. If Generic Floxin is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to stop breastfeeding until your treatment with Generic Floxin is finished.

Special warnings about Generic Floxin
Generic Floxin tablets, used in high doses for short periods of time, may hide or delay the symptoms of syphilis, but is not effective in treating syphilis. If you are taking Generic Floxin for gonorrhea, your doctor will test you for syphilis and then perform a follow-up test after 3 months of treatment.

Convulsions, increased pressure in the head, psychosis, tremors, restlessness, light-headedness, nervousness, confusion, depression, nightmares, insomnia, and hallucinations have occasionally been reported with this type of antibiotic. If you experience any of these symptoms, stop taking Generic Floxin and contact your doctor immediately.

Like all antibiotics, Generic Floxin has been known to cause serious inflammation of the bowels. Notify your doctor if you develop diarrhea during or after a course of therapy with this drug.

Generic Floxin can cause a rupture in the muscle tendons in your hand, shoulder, or heel. If you notice any pain and inflammation in a tendon, rest and avoid exercise until you have seen your doctor.

If you are prone to seizures due to kidney disease, a brain disorder, or epilepsy, make sure your doctor knows about it. Generic Floxin tablets should be used with caution under these conditions.

If you have liver or kidney disease, your doctor will watch you closely while you are taking Generic Floxin tablets.
Avoid being in the sun too much; you can develop sun poisoning while you are taking Generic Floxin tablets.

Generic Floxin tablets may make you feel dizzy or light-headed. Be careful driving, operating machinery, or doing any activity that requires full mental alertness until you know how you react to Generic Floxin.

Generic Floxin tablets have not been tested in children under 18.

Why Generic Floxin should not be prescribed?
Generic Floxin should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy.

If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using Generic Floxin and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
