Generic Pentids is also prescribed preventively before surgery or dental work in patients at risk for endocarditis (infection of the interior lining of the heart, which may damage the heart\'s valves).

Generic Pentids may also be given to treat meningitis and syphilis

Children: 189 to 13,636 units per lb of body weight every 4 to 8 hours.

Infants: 13,636 units per lb of body weight every 12 hours.

Generic Pentids Overdose
Overdose unlikely to threaten life. If person takes much larger amount than prescribed, call doctor, poison-control center or hospital emergency room for instructions.

Overdose Symptoms include:
Severe diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, seizures.

If you miss a dose of Generic Pentids
If you miss a dose of Generic Pentids, take it as soon as possible. This will help to keep a constant amount of medicine in the blood or urine. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses of Generic Pentids.

Generic Pentids Storage Instructions
To store Generic Pentids:

• Keep out of the reach of children.
• Store away from heat and direct light.
• Do not store the tablet forms of Penicillin G in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in other damp places. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down.
• Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Be sure that any discarded medicine is out of the reach of children.

Additional Information
Once a medicine has been approved for marketing for a certain use, experience may show that it is also useful for other medical problems. Although these uses are not included in product labeling, Penicillin G is used in certain patients with the following medical conditions:

• Gas gangrene
• Leptospirosis
• Lyme disease
• Typhoid fever

When you take Generic Pentids with other medicines, it can change the way Generic Pentids or any of the other medicines work. Nonprescription medicines, vitamins, natural remedies, and certain foods may also interact. Using these products together might cause harmful side effects. Talk to your health care provider if you are taking:

• beta blockers such as atenolol (Tenormin), carteolol (Cartrol), pindolol (Visken), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol), timolol (Blocadren), nadolol (Corgard), and propranolol (Inderal)
• birth control pills (talk to your health care provider if you need birth control)
• chloramphenicol (Chloromycetin)
• erythromycin (Erythrocin, E.E.S., EryPed, Ilotycin)
• probenecid (Benemid)
• tetracyclines such as tetracycline (Achromycin V, Sumycin), doxycycline (Vibramycin, Doryx),
• minocycline (Minocin), and oxytetracycline (Terramycin).
• Taking probenecid (Benemid) with Generic Pentids may cause an interaction that your health care provider wants. Discuss this with your health care provider.

Keep a list of all your medicines (prescription, nonprescription, supplements, natural remedies, and vitamins) with you. Be sure that you tell all health care providers who treat you about all the products you are taking.

Special Precautions if you are pregnant or breast feeding
Adequate studies of use of Generic Pentids during pregnancy have not been done; however, no problems have been reported.
Animal studies have shown foetal abnormalities.

Generic Pentids (Penicillin G) may pass into breast milk and cause problems in the nursing infant. Child may become sensitive to penicillins and have allergic reactions to penicillin drugs. Avoid Generic Pentids or discontinue nursing until you finish medicine. Consult doctor for advice on maintaining milk supply.

Special Warnings about Generic Pentids

• Don\'t take Generic Pentids if you are allergic to penicillin G, cephalosporin antibiotics, other penicillins. Life-threatening reaction may occur.
• Before you start, consult your doctor.
• If you are over the age 60 you may have skin reactions, particularly around genitals and anus.
• With prolonged use you may become more susceptible to infections caused by germs not responsive to Generic Pentids.
• Talk to your doctor about the need for follow-up medical examinations or laboratory studies to check SGPT, SGOT.
• Driving, piloting or hazardous work are usually not dangerous. Most hazardous reactions likely to occur a few minutes after taking Generic Pentids.
• Urine sugar test for diabetes may show false positive result.

Birth control pills may not be effective. Therefore use additional birth-control methods.

Why Generic Pentids should not be prescribed?
You should not use Generic Pentids if you have had an allergic reaction to any type of penicillin.

Life-threatening Generic Pentids side effects:

• Hives,
• rash,
• intense itching,
• faintness

Common Generic Pentids side effects:

• Dark or discolored tongue.

Infrequent Generic Pentids side effects:

• Mild nausea,
• vomiting,
• diarrhea.
• Bloody urine,
• face and ankle swelling.

Rare Generic Pentids side effects:

• Unexplained bleeding or bruising,
• weakness,
• sore throat,
• fever,
• abdominal cramps,
• convulsions
