| Generic Ultram (Tramadol) is an effective pain reliever (analgesic). Its mode of
action resembles that of narcotics, but it has significantly less potential for
abuse and addiction than the narcotics. Generic Ultram is as effective as narcotics
in relieving pain but does not depress respiration, a side effect of most narcotics.
Generic Ultram (Tramadol) is not a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID), and does not have the increased risk of stomach ulceration and internal bleeding that can occur with the use of NSAIDs. Generic Ultram (Tramadol) is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. Generic Ultram also may be used to treat pain caused by surgery and chronic conditions such as cancer or joint pain. to pain. Generic Ultram also reduces the size or magnitude of the pain signal passed from

| Dosage: How should you take Ultram? | ||
| It is important to take Generic Ultram exactly as prescribed. Do not increase the dosage of Generic Ultram or length of time you take Generic Ultram without the approval from your doctor. Generic Ultram dosage for adults: The usual starting dose of Generic Ultram for adults for chronic pain is 25 milligrams once a day in the morning. The daily dosage of Generic Ultram is then increased every 3 days until it reaches 200 milligrams taken in four doses of 50 milligrams each. After the phase-in period, Generic Ultram may be taken in doses of 50 to 100 milligrams every 4 to 6 hours, depending on the severity of pain. If rapid pain relief is needed, the phase-in steps can be skipped, though side effects will be more likely. The maximum dosage of Generic Ultram under any circumstances is 400 milligrams a day (300 milligrams for those over age 75). For people with kidney problems, the usual starting dose of Generic Ultram is 50 to 100 milligrams every 12 hours; and the maximum dose of Generic Ultram per day is 200 milligrams. For those with cirrhosis, the usual dose of Generic Ultram is 50 milligrams every 12 hours. Generic Ultram dosage for children: Safety and effectiveness of Generic Ultram in children under 16 years of age have not been established. Overdose of Generic Ultram: An overdose of Generic Ultram can be fatal. If you suspect an overdose of Generic Ultram, seek emergency medical treatment immediately. Symptoms of Generic Ultram overdose: Difficult or slowed breathing, drowsiness, coma, seizures, cardiac arrest. If you miss a dose of Generic Ultram: Take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose of Generic Ultram, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Never take 2 doses of Generic Ultram at once. | Special information on Ultram | ||
Special information if you are pregnant or breastfeeding: There have been reports of serious harm to developing babies when Generic Ultram was used during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, tell your doctor immediately. Generic Ultram appears in breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. If Generic Ultram is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding until your treatment with Generic Ultram is finished. |

| Generic Ultram side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in
intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine
if it is safe for you to continue taking Generic Ultram. More common side effects of Generic Ultram: Agitation, anxiety, bloating and gas, constipation, convulsive movements, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, feeling of elation, hallucinations, headache, indigestion, itching, nausea, nervousness, sweating, tremor, vomiting, weakness. Less common side effects of Generic Ultram: Abdominal pain, confusion, coordination problems, feeling of illness, flushing, frequent urination, inability to urinate, loss of appetite, menopausal symptoms, rash, sleeping problems, visual problems. Rare side effects of Generic Ultram: May include, accidental injury, allergic reaction, altered taste, amnesia, coma, difficult or labored breathing, difficulty concentrating, dizziness or light-headedness upon standing, fainting, feeling of "pins and needles," fever, heightened reflexes, hives, menstrual problems, mental sluggishness or clouding, painful urination, rapid heartbeat, seizures, shivering, seizures, suicidal tendencies, weight loss. |
