Dosage: How should you take Avalide?

Take each dose of Avalide with a full glass of water. Avalide can be taken with or without food.

If you miss an Avalide dose: Take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next Avalide dose, skip the dose of Avalide you missed and go back to your regular Avalide schedule. Never take 2 doses of Avalide at the same time.

Avalide tablets come in two strengths:

• Avalide 150 milligrams irbesartan with 12.5 milligrams hydrochlorothiazide
• Avalide 300 milligrams irbesartan with 12.5 milligrams hydrochlorothiazide

Avalide Dosage For Adults:
The usual starting Avalide doses is one 150 milligrams irbesartan with 12.5 milligrams hydrochlorothiazide tablet daily.

It will take 2 to 4 weeks for Avalide to reach its maximum effectiveness. If your blood pressure does not respond to the initial Avalide dosage, your doctor may increase the dosage of Avalide to one 300 milligrams irbesartan with 12.5 milligrams hydrochlorothiazide tablet or 2 lower-strength tablets taken once a day.

Avalide controls high blood pressure but does not cure it. Continue to take Avalide even if you feel well. Do not stop taking Avalide without first talking to your doctor. If you stop taking Avalide suddenly, your condition could become worse.

Avalide Overdose:
Avalide taken in excess can have serious consequences. Information on Avalide overdose is limited, but extremely low blood pressure and an unusually rapid or slow heartbeat are likely signs of an overdose.

Other signs of Avalide overdose may include dry mouth, excessive thirst, muscle cramps, weakness, restlessness, confusion, and nausea. If you suspect an Avalide overdose, seek medical attention immediately.
