Micardis-HCT is a combination of Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide used to lower blood pressure.

Telmisartan controls high blood pressure (hypertension) by relaxing blood vessels.

Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic. High blood pressure can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. Micardis-HCT does not cure high blood pressure.

Micardis-HCT contains two active ingredients, Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide .

Telmisartan is a type of medicine called an angiotensin II antagonist. Telmisartan works by blocking receptors known as angiotensin II receptors in the body. By blocking these receptors Telmisartan prevents a compound called angiotensin II from working.

Micardis-HCT may be taken with or without food. Take Micardis-HCT exactly as directed. Try to take it at the same time each day so that it is easier to remember.

Micardis-HCT is available in tablets containing either 40 or 80 milligrams of Telmisartan and 12.5 milligrams of Hydrochlorothiazide.
