Dosage: How should you take Trental CR ?

Take Trental CR capsules orally. Swallow the capsules whole with a drink of water; do not break open or chew. You can take Trental CR with food or antacids if it upsets your stomach. Take your Trental CR doses at regular intervals. Do not take Trental CR more often than directed.

Adults
The usual dosage of Trental in controlled-release tablets is one 400-milligram tablet 3 times a day with meals.

While the effect of Trental CR may be seen within 2 to 4 weeks, it is recommended that treatment be continued for at least 8 weeks.

Any stomach or central nervous system (affecting the brain and spinal cord) side effects are related to the dose. If any of these side effects occur, the Trental CR dosage should be lowered to 1 tablet, 2 times a day, for a total of 800 milligrams a day. If side effects persist at this lower dosage, your doctor may consider stopping Trental CR.

Children
The safety and effectiveness of Trental CR in children have not been established.

Elderly patents
Elderly patients over 65 years old need smaller Trental CR doses to reduce possible side effects.

If you miss a Trental CR dose
If you miss a dose of Trental CR, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose of Trental CR, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses of Trental CR.

Trental CR Overdose
Trental CR overdose may lead to serious consequences. Seek medical emergency immediately.

Symptoms of Trental CR overdose may include

• seizures,
• agitation,
• fever,
• loss of consciousness,
• a flushed face, and
• drowsiness

Trental CR Storage instructions
Keep Trental CR out of the reach of children in a container that small children cannot open.

Store Trental CR at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Protect from light. Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused amount of Trental CR after the expiry date.
